Philip L. Smith was the Husband of Ella Mae Smith.

Both were sat in their front garden, which is located next door to the farm house location when Night of the Living Dead was being filmed, when a car pulled up in front of their home. A Lady got out of the car and asked them both, "Hey, do you guys want to be in a movie?", Initially Philip said " No!", But Ella Mae wanted to find out more and so convinced her husband to check it out.

They both ended up having parts in the movie as Ghouls.
